Should you file your own insurance claim?

A successful insurance claim that covers all of your damages takes a lot of work. The goal is to start correctly the first time. Please don't cash your initial ACV check because if you do, you lose your power of negotiations. So these are a few questions you should ask yourself prior to filing your own insurance claim.

The following questions will help you to determine whether or not you need our expert assistance. There is a lot that goes behind the scenes of filing an insurance claim. We are here to assist you to get through this process as smoothly as possible.

  1. How much time do you have to file claim after you experienced damages?
  2. Is your insurance policy ACV or RCV?
  3. Do you know the exact day and time of your storm damage loss?

  5. What information will you give to the insurance adjuster to help your cause not harm it?
  6. Do you know the age of your roof? If not, how will you answer when the adjuster from the insurance company asks?

  8. What will you do if your insurance company only buys a portion of your roof?
  9. Who will be your contactor to do the repairs?
  10. Who will you order the container from to remove all your damages?
  11. Do you need a roofing permit?
  12. Is your contractor licensed and do they carry the proper insurance?
  13. What happens if there is any injury on your property?
  14. How will you know your contractor did a great job?
  15. Who will warranty the repairs?
  16. What happens if your contractor isn’t a claim expert and they need to ask for additional money but do not utilize the forms and technologies that insurance companies require?
  17. How will you collect depreciation?
  18. What happens if your insurance company asks for a public adjuster to inspect repairs?
